Instructions for Stretching Exercise Program

These exercises are designed to help yuo restore range of motion of your head, neck and jaws. They should further enable you to manage your pain.

All exercises are to be done six times per day, six times each for a count of six seconds each. All exercises must be done gently and smoothly; no jerky or fast movements. Allow yourself to feel the stretch and breathe into it. Do not hurt yourself by overstretching.

Exercise #1:

Standing or sitting in correct postural position, look straight foward and perform axial extension (chin tuck). Now slowly tilt your head to your should, make sure you do not rotate your head. Repeat six times to one side followed by six times to the other side.

Exercise #2:

Standing or sitting in correct postural position, look straight forward and perform axial extension (chin tuck). Now slowly rotate your head looking over your shoulder. Repeat six times to one side followed by six times to the other side.

Exercise #3:

Standing or sitting in correct postural position, slowly rotate your head 45 degrees (half way) to one side. Now place your hand on top of your head with  your elbow directly in front of your face. Gently pull your head forward. Repeat six tiems to one side followed by six times to the other side.
